Obesity in the media

All the TV advertisements do seem a little bit too ironic for me, one second you are being flashed by an unhealthy burger, and in the next an anorexic model is presenting the newest hair products or whatever. This seems so contradicting for our society. I have already mentioned how the media can cause eating disorders and self-conscious problems, so I will not go into detail yet again. On the other hand Obesity and the media have a completely sick relationship. The people in the food advertisements are skinny, and always really happy which could mislead especially young children to possible childhood obesity.

The other thing of course is how reality shows and comedy portray obesity. They take advantage of fat people, because they seem "more funny". People watch shows about hugely obese people trying to loose a few kilos. To me this just seems sad; I cannot understand how this is amusing.

Personally I think it shouldn’t be allowed to have advertisements, which twist the reality in such a way that children could suffer from childhood obesity later on life, or in a way that it makes fun of obese people, instead of educating them about the condition.
