Why are people attracted to reality shows?

People like watching reality TV shows because they are so easy to relate to. The conflicts and people in the TV shows are genuine and unscripted, so this makes the viewer more intrigued by what is happening. Also the conflicts on reality TV shows are real, which makes them easier to relate to. The way in which many characters clash and argue in such TV shows reminds the audience of their own disagreements with people, and could help them solve the problems they are having.

One reason why people enjoy reality TV is since it is so widely promoted, for example on the cover of Peoples magazines.

Additionally the average person has a rather dull life with a every day routine and no special events. Furthered more people enjoy the unexpected and as “guilty pleasure”. Also people enjoy unusual and creative setting such as artists, dancers singers etc.

In my opinion reality shows are primitive and cruel, yet this makes them sometimes so interesting, to ignore all ethical or moral issues in society.
