I am usually entertained by films, which makes me want to watch them but I asked myself why are we entertained by these mostly unrealistic scenarios. What makes us want to watch movies? 

 

What I found out was very interesting indeed. As all the different film genres suggest we love "escaping" real life for a few hours to take a physical rest whilst still being "mentally involved".

What happens in the film is usually an exaggerated version of our everyday life, which makes us believe there is more out there than what we usually encounter on a daily basis.

 

The climax in a movie ties the audience to a film, and is also why we would watch a good movie over, and over again. 

 

The characters in movies are most always very charismatic and one can feel with them as one watches the movie.
